While the gameplay of Disco Elysium differs significantly from the other entries this month, it is fundamentally still a narrative driven game centered around dialogue. While the game features several dozen unique characters, the best dialogue occurs with the voices inside the character's head. Each voice reflects the 24 different skills the character can invest in, who speak up during the character's interactions with the world. The character can literally debate himself as the different voices speak up and argue with each other over something the detective has done.
While Suzerain looks like a political simulator, it is fundamentally a choose your own adventure game set in the unstable Republic of Sordland. The player plays as the newly elected President, Anton Rayne of the United Sordland Party, as his adminstration tries to deal with domestic and international issues of an unstable country. The gameplay largely consists of interacting with members of Rayne's adminstration, but it also features a significant amount of lore and imformation presented in a wikipedia-like format.
The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is like Suzerain in terms of gameplay, but it features additonal mechanics that reflects the personality of the eponymous character as he grows up during the course of the game. Choices made available to the player reflects, how Brante grew up in his youth and determines his role in the violent revolt that shakes the foundations of the decaying empire. Like Suzerain, it also features a lot of lore presented within the game to give context to events.
